IMU-Based Motion Capture Systems

The laboratory has two Xsens full-body inertial motion-capture systems (Xsens Technologies B.V., the Netherlands) for recording whole-body movement and conducting three-dimensional kinematic analysis. Wearable inertial sensors measure body-segment orientation, acceleration, and motion without requiring a fixed camera-based capture area. The accompanying software supports calibration, real-time visualization, body-position recording, segment-angle analysis, and animation using a virtual human model. The systems are suitable for activity recognition, gait analysis, rehabilitation, occupational biomechanics, ergonomics, material handling, sports performance, mobility assessment, and evaluation of wearable assistive technologies.
